Full-blood Omaha. Her brother Big Elk became a principal chief. Married Michel Barada, a French fur trader from St. Louis, around 1795.
Son of Tae-Gleha and Michel. Reportedly lifted an 1,800-lb cannon barrel. The town of Barada, Nebraska is named for his family.
Daughter of Antoine. Married Fulton Peters, a Bavarian immigrant. Settled in Richardson County, Nebraska.
Daughter of Euphrasia. Married Lot George Sailors. At least 8 children. Settled in the Bancroft-Rosalie area. Omaha heritage enters the Sailors line here.
Son of Lot and Mary Ann. Garl and Elsie raised 15 children between Bancroft and Rosalie. Elsie’s father ‘Mitch’ Keyser was the one who took his family by covered wagon to Oklahoma Territory in 1892.
Technical Sergeant, 57th Station Hospital, WWII — served in North Africa. After the war, became a school superintendent in Dakota City. Died at 48 on a fishing trip at Lake Hendricks. His brother Fulton wrote a poem in his memory.
